OccultSubverting meanings and symbols from the European Medieval and Renaissance world is at the heart of my artwork. "Queen of Stink" This print has no meaning other than I think it's a silly joke. Not every symbol has to be deep or awe-inspiring. I'm very proud of how the vulture head came out on this one. A very poor picture of Triptych that took me about a year to finish- Lilith, Lucifer, and Eve. Depicted negatively in Judeo-Christain religions, I wanted to represent them using symbols and imagery usually reserved for saints. "Lucifer" was bought by a local hair salon. I couldn't be more proud. <3 A common occurrence while I'm working. "Babylon" In the Christian Bible, Revelations tells of a "Whore of Babylon" that rides on a beast with 7 heads during what is essentially the apocalypse. My spin is more utopian than a final judgement. The End Times are a moment of true freedom, when humanity is not bound by the rules of an unjust god. The Whore of Babylon ushers in sexual freedom. Detail on "Babylon" "Aphrodite" My take on the objectification women face in a patriarchal world. "Hermaphroditus" Based on a series of famous statues, I have often gotten compliments on "her" backside. Gender's a silly thing isn't it? Reproduction from a French book on witches. The original text was written in the mid-1800s. In the early 1900s the book was reprinted with a series of illustrations from an erotic artist.
