Week 3

I managed to sketch out a couple new woodblock/lino print ideas this week- one for a possible new Tarot card and another of a dog based on a medieval illuminated manuscript. I’ve noticed some slight improvement in my nature sketches. I’ve drawn that acorn cap a few times, and it’s starting to actually look like an acorn cap.

Winter in Minnesota means that I take up too many hobbies to distract from the cold and seasonal depression. On top of remembering to sketch once a day I also started knitting a pair of mittens, cut leather for 2 new blank journals, have a woodblock print ready to be carved, am taking aerial Lyra classes, and rock climbing. At some point I will throw skiing in there, but it’s been unusually (or is it now usually?) not very snowy for this time of the year.

As things very slowly start the thaw and days get longer, I’ll probably have more to say about this project as I tone down my winter hobbies. Right now I’m still in the “learning new thing” phase, which is mostly frustration. I current still really suck at drawing leaves.
